Second Suspect Arraigned in JV’s Variety Murder
FITCHBURG —
The second of two Fitchburg men, charged with murder
in the July 20 shooting outside JV’s Variety, was
ordered held without bail today in Fitchburg
District Court, according to Worcester County
District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
Jason Velez-Acosta, 21, of 35 Birch St. was arrested
late last night as part of an ongoing investigation
by the State Police Detectives assigned to the
District Attorney’s Office and the Fitchburg Police
Department. A not guilty plea was entered on his
behalf and Judge Andrew L. Mandell continued the
case to Aug. 31.
Rafael Garcia-Concepcion, 32, of 86 Cleghorn St.,
was arraigned on a murder charge last Friday in
Fitchburg District Court. He is being held without
bail and his case was continued to Sept. 1.
Scott E. Person, 40, 781A Fitchburg State Road,
Ashby died last Friday at the University of
Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. He had
been shot shortly after he left work at JV’s.
Lorenzo Perez was appointed to represent Mr.
Velez-Acosta. Assistant District Attorney Cara
Krysil represented the Commonwealth.
