AUBURN — A 35-year-old Worcester man was arraigned today on charges stemming from his online soliciting of a 12-year-old girl for sex, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. Said.
Jeremy Taylor, 35, of 3 Meade Street Apt. 1, was charged with attempting to commit a crime (rape of child under 16), attempting to commit a crime (indecent assault & battery on a child under 14), attempting to commit a crime (enticement of a child) and one count of accosting and annoying a person of the opposite sex. He pleaded not guilty and his case was continued to February 17. Judge Michael G. Allard-Madaus ordered Mr. Taylor held on $2,000 bail.
The investigation began when the victim approached a guidance counselor at the Auburn Middle School. The victim told the guidance counselor that a man she had been communicating with on Facebook had

“This is a case where the actions of the victim, school officials and law enforcement prevented a more serious crime and helped get a predator off the Internet,” Mr. Early said. “The lesson for kids who find themselves in situations like this is, contact an adult right away. I want to commend the school officials, the Auburn Police, State Police Detectives and the Worcester
Police for their work on this case. ”
An investigation by the Auburn Police and State Police Detectives assigned to the
Worcester District Attorney’s Office led similar reports in the towns of Lancaster and Stow. Mr. Taylor was tracked to Meade Street in Worcester where he was arrested last night with the assistance of detectives from Worcester Police.
