WORCESTER — Three Worcester men were charged with drug trafficking and police seized more than 1,500 grams of cocaine and $35,000 in cash, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. has announced.

Draney Gomez-Mesa, 31, of 56 Edgeworth St., was arrested after allegedly selling approximately 250 grams of cocaine to an undercover trooper. Executing a search warrant of his apartment, police seized cocaine and cash. He is charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, distributing cocaine within a school zone (Lincoln Street Elementary),
two counts of trafficking in cocaine over 200 grams and conspiracy to traffic cocaine over 200 grams. He is being held on $500,000 bail.

Hector Puerta, 48, of 26 William St., is being held on $100,000 bail after being charged with trafficking in cocaine over 100 grams. Police confiscated cocaine and cash from his apartment after executing a search warrant.

The cases of all three men were continued to July 18.

In addition to the three arrests, information gathered in the investigation led police to the basement of a building at 96 Elm St. where more cocaine was recovered.

The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation by the State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, State Police Special Services Unit, State Police Gang Unit, Worcester Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration and ICE.
